I think it's for when your editing the heirarchy nodes but i'm not sure.

It's basically the pivot points for the different meshes of a 3do.

Unless I have an older version of JED...
I think the newest mode is used for editing the frames of things (frame mode). I usually make frames the old fashioned way (create thing, copy coordinates, create frame value, paste coordinates), even though I should really learn to use the new mode.

The 3do heirarchy is the definition of 'parent' and 'child' meshes that allows them to move in sync with each other. For example, Kyle's forearm is a child of his arm and his arm is a child of his torso. So when his torso (parent mesh) moves, the arm will stay attached to it in the same relative position(ie. will move with it). But when the arm moves, the torso stays still because the torso is the parent mesh. It has to do with that whole parental dominance over children thing. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]
