Dome Help....
2001-05-02, 12:57 PM #1
Ok, for the starting area of my level, I have a hanger, which just so happens to be a dome. It is an ovecular dome. I want to make a force field(due that it is a hanger) on the side of it. And due to my expariences with hanger forcefields. You need two serfaces(one for the force texture, the other for the star texture)But it wont let me extrude the dome wals and it is realy bugging me. If any advice, Please tell me. I have put in three screenshots. The red indicates where I want the force field to be.

Try this:

1) Extrude each one of the surfaces along that side INDIVIDUALLY. (Select the surface and press 'x')

2) Goto a side view such as the one in you second picture.

3) Select "Vertex" mode in JED and select the verticies at the end of the bottom two sectors that you have "created" and drag them to the desired distance from the dome.

4) Next, move and align the other sectors to the two lower ones.

5) Line up the veticies to form a cube( or whatever shape you want) anf then cleave the newly created sectors and adjoin them to form one sector. * Note: make sure you do NOT adjoin the secotrs while they are not cleaved properly. otherwise the curved surface that is connected to your dome will cause errors. *

6) Finally, set up your desired surfaces for your force fields and texture.

Hopefully I'm not being too vague but It's kinda hard to put into words exactly what I'm trying to say. You may want to make a back-up of your level and play with the above technique.
