JED problems... GRRR

I have a simple problem that can be fixed but I'm not used to JED. So, in every editor you have views. But in JED, when I want to modify my model from different views other then the top and bottom view, it's just as if I can't cleave away the peace I don't want. If anybody know's what I mean and know's how to fix it, I would be happy! Thanks

Hold down shift while you press the arrow keys to rotate the view around. Then use the snap grid to view command.

also use 1, 2, 3 and shift + 1, shift + 2, etc to move to view to preset angles (top, side, bottom, etc.)
