Question

I have a question regarding level editing, using JED. I'm a newbie at editing so be kind...

Say I want to create a secret area in a MP game of JK. I start with the default sector and cleave off a tiny box in the corner. Then I extrude that tiny surface into a small box sector. At this point the common surfaces are NOT adjoined. What I want to do is make that smaller box (room) accessable but I want to make the entrance NOT visible.

In other words, I want the entrance surface to look like it's wall but I want to make it passable, hence turning the smaller sector into a secret area. Can I do this? If you know what I'm talking about could you please help me?!?

Thanks...

Make the adjoins, but set the geo to 4.

Welcome! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

If you used the extrude command then they are adjoined. If they aren't adjoin them and set the geo to 4. To get to the geo setting (its in the item editor) just select the surface and hit enter.

Tip for editing in the future- most jk players frown on geo 4 walls. They simply look unrealistic, and generally detract from the levels quality. Secret areas are better if they are more cleverly placed, such as behind a box, in a dark corner, or above and behind the players path during the game. Realistic looking secret areas can add a lot to a level.
