Cool! That's really nice of you to offer. Let me talk to Morat. We may have some things for a level we are planning.

Great! I need some sounds for a patch I'm making.

I need:
  • A sound for a vibroblade(can sound like a knife) hitting a wall when swung.
  • A sound for when the vibroblade hits an actor when swung.
  • A sound for a vibroblade hitting a wall when thrown.
  • A sound for when a vibroblade hits an actor when thrown.
  • the sound of a missile being launched from a hand-held missile launcher.
  • explosion sound for the missile.
  • inflight sound for the missile.
  • A humsound for a laser(like Hideki's aiming laser)
  • A sound for the stunbolt in ANH.

Can you do those for me?

Hey there,

MikeC: just post something to me here or email me as soon as you know all you want me to make for you.

Sabermaster: First off, I think it would be helpful if you could get me a picture of some sort for the vibroblade, its better when you can see what you're making a sound for.
The rocket launcher I can pretty much manage by myself. Again, for the aim-laser and the stuntbolt i'd need a bit of details, a picture would be great. The sooner you can get me pictures and all, the sooner I can start on those sounds..

can you make a dramatic 1.3 minute long theme tune with a spooky touch? Like somethings in the shadows

This is a good picture of what my vibroblade looks like.

Here are some pictures of the Aiming Laser and the Stun bolt. I need a humming sound for when the laser's on. The stunbolt is modeled after the one used in Star Wars: A New Hope. -The one the stormtroopers shot Leia with. I need a sound as close to the one from the movie as possible.

Thanks for making these sounds, Bladesinger. I'll add you to the Credit list [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif].

A sound for a gun that sorta sounds like a battlecruiser charging up the Yamato cannon in starcraft. And a sound sorta like the redeemer in UT for a controlable ball of plasma in a huge missile launcher. And a dagger sound.
DO NOT WANT.

Sabermaster: all the sounds are done except the stunbolt thingy. even with the pics you provided me, I have no idea what a stunbolt should sound like. And I haven't see ANH in ages so I can't really relate to that either. In any case, i'll email you the sounds i made, hope ya like'em.

Stormie: I can, but it'll take a LOT of space. Look at it this way, 1 minutes of 44khz stereo music in .WAV takes 10megs. You can put it in 22khz and get it down to 5megs, which is still fairly large. Resampling it to 11khz (as most of JK's soundfx are) isn't gonna do any justice to the song. Its okay for small shap sounds like bullets and stuff, but a song in 11khz is the equivalent of listening to an real audio stream on a 28.8bps modem thru an AM radio stuck in the bottom of a metal trashcan submerged in jello or something like that. So all in all, 5 megs is the lowest you can go for relatively acceptable sound quality for 1 minute of music. I somehow doubt people would be willing to download a 5-6-7 megs level unless it was the next best thing after a date with nicole kidman.

Zell: uh... like... what? a big cannon charging thingy starcraft whatchamacallit and all? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Don't click the link below. Right-click it and copy the shortcut to the address bar.

Here is the stun bolt sound from the movie. The problem is that there's a "clomp" at the end where Leia falls on the deck.

Sabermaster: Got it.. I took the original ANH sound and basically removed the sound Leia makes when she falls on her delicious butt. I removed the awful noise and cranked the quality way up so that it sounds better. you should like it.. Im emailing the soundpack to you right away...

ok, can you make it about 15seconds but it can be repeated? That would be cool

Also, could you do a pc starting up. my level includes an arm plugged into a pc device, and I would like a small startup sound.

Thanks - Stormie

I got your email, BladeSinger, but there wasn't any attachment. It might be because I was near my two meg limit. Try sending it to me again. Thanks.

Stormie: I twiddled around a bit yesterday with using JK's sound engine for music. And its horrible. You have to put yourself in A3D mode in order to get the music to sound decent, and even then, its (badly) converted to mono.... And if you're not in A3D it sounds like s**t Maybe someone could come up with a cog that can play MP3s... that would be best IMO...

SaberMaster: add me to your ICQ list (6933910) it'll be simpler.. cause the sound pack is almost two megs anyways so Hotmail will prolly give us more trouble for nothing..

I have another email address that will work. It has a three megabite limit.

Send it to saber888@homestead.com

Thanks again for making the sounds. -I thought it would have taken a few days at least.
