One thing.
How do you change the snap-to point on a wedge shaped sector? It makes making a pipe for me a 10 minute task, with micrscopic aligning.
My signature puts the 'hat' in 'phat'.

One way is to change the grid position instead and use the snap to grid option. You can try selecting a surface and use "snap grid to object" Shift-S, then "snap view to grid". If this doesn't give the orientation you need to build your pipe. You might try inserting any old 3do and moving it to a certain spot and changing the pitch/yaw/roll. Then snap the grid to the 3do. Just an idea.
