I am not very good at creating 3dos but you can do it in JED or download special tools.

Ivar, it is actually very easy to make a simple 3do. Try this. Open up Jed, and cleave the starting sector small box or something else interesting (as long as there is no errors). Now, give it some textures. Now, click on File at the top, and click on the "Export as 3do" button. It will bring up a save box. You should save the 3do in your project directory under a sub-folder called "3do." Now, you have created a 3do. There is more to it than that (like pivot points and meshes) for complicated 3do's, but I don't suggest you try to work on stuff like that until you have some editing experience.

You may be wondering now, how to insert the 3do into your level.

For this you need to create a template.
First, click on Tools on the menu, and at the bottom, click on "Template Creator." This will bring up a little box with a bunch of buttons. Now, the first thing to do is give your template a name (under the name section). Then, choose a parent. This is an existing template that is similar to your 3do. As I understand it, the new template (that you're making) will borrow whatever data it doesn't have from the parent template. Thus, you want to choose one similar. For instance, if you are making a new chair, you would want to have the parent be the template for one of LEC's already existing chairs. (Parents aren't always necessary, but for this level of editing, they are.) Next, you must choose the 3do for the template. Along the right side, there should be a button that says 3do. Click on it, and it will open the resource picker, and you will see on the left top corner a place where you can select the path that the resource picker looks for 3do's. Make sure this is set to where you saved the 3do (C:\whatevergoesinhere\project\3do\). Now, the 3do should appear in the resource picker. Click on it, and hit ok. Then, click on the "Save Template" button. You should now see your 3do in the very back of the resource editer under the name you supplied when you go to add a thing.

(Note: I am instructing entirely from memory, and so, there may be a few things wrong with what I've told you. To the best of my knowledge it is accurate, however. I'm sure one of the other editors will point out anything I missed.

Missed a step.

It's easy to make 3do's with Jed. Just...
1. Set the sector flags to "preview as 3do". If you don't know how to set sector flags just ask.
2. When you save make sure you use the "export sector(s) as 3do" option.

One other thing. After you save the new template, run the command "reload templates" - found in the menu bar under commands.
