How would I make a 3do sound like dirt when it's walked on rather than metal or stone? Thanks in advance.

Open up the 3do in JED, change the values of the surface flags to dirt.

Then save, and bam...

I don't think that will work. The sound attached is generally due to the parent template and thing flags used.

I know LEC did it with that bed that can be found in nearly every level, so it must be possible.

Well, wouldn't it work both ways?

1) Doing the individual surfaces

2) Setting Thingflags

Cause there is the Earth box on Thingflags, would that set it to give off that sound?

In JED select your Thing, click on "Add Value" and add "Thingflags" then just choose the flags you want. In your case "Earth".

Walkstruct and Zwalkstruct both have metal, but if you add the correct thingflags to your own template, it will overwrite it.

Walkstruct should have been normal, but apparently they decided that would be too convenient.

Do as SlingsRat says. And if you want the normal walk sound on the 3do, select the walkstruct template, and then in the "thingflags" selections uncheck the "metal" flag.
