i am trying to work my way through the basic
door tutorial.i am stuck on what to do when merging sectors.every time i press "m" nothing happens.please help

To merge sectors they need to be adjoined first, meaning they have at least one adjoined surface that they share. To merge the sectors you need to select both (click on one, it turns red, press space bar, orange means its selected, click on the second and press space bar, now one is orange the other blue) then when you press "m" it should merge the sectors. If not, check your message window. When merging, always use the consistency checker. If it says your new combined sector is not convex than you'll have to unmerge them (edit, undo). You merge surfaces in the same way.
