Converting GOBs

I have a .gob of a level i never finished but i lost the .jed (thats what the editing form is called right? its been a while for me) How do i convert the .gob into an editable form?

Ok, extract the gob to your project directory. Copy the jkl file(s) from the JKL directory to the project directory.

Load JED, and then load the jkl file. Now get JED to save, and it will convert the jkl file to a JED format file.

This will work fine if the level doesn't use any custom templates. If so you will need to copy the standard JED master.tpl file from JED's jed-data directory to your project. Open the old jkl file and the master.tpl file into a text editor and copy any templates that are missing.

Hope this helps.

I have no .jkls, just the gob.

Ah, you _do_ have the jkl files. You just have to extract them from your gob file as I mentioned above.

You will of course need to have a gob extractor program like Conman or Gobex which are both available here at Massassi.

Gracias senor/it/a,
I thought you were using extract as a fancy term for copy.

There's a shortcut you guys are missing. You can, in Jed, open up a gob and open the jkl file from it.

Now im having trouble testing my level. I think this is a jed problem not a level problem... does jed need to be in the JK folder?

It tried to load some jk.exe from the jed directory, then it says bad command or file name.

[http://forums.massassi.net/html/confused.gif] There shouldn't be any jk.exe file in your jed directory.

It's trying to run JK to test the level. You need to have JK installed correctly for this to work. When you test your level it will create a simple batch file to run it.
