ok...i made a door in my level and tested it...the door worked but when it did nothing i got a HOM effect on all the surfaces in the sector the door was in...i'm pretty sure this is probably a common thing so if someone could help me out here it would be appreciated.

The door should be in a sector of it's own, because it changes the surface flags or something, and if your in the same sector as the door, you get HOM.

So your door should be in it's own little sector.

The door is in its own sector but it still has lots of HOM flying around it

Use the door cog here at Massassi. It'll do away with that problem. The usual LEC door cogs turn off all of the doorsector's adjoins to prevent actors from seeing through the door(they can see through 3dos).

Or, you could make all of your own door cogs like I do. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I wonder why LEC levels don't ever have this problem...

Let me clarify what was meant by the door has to have its own sector. You cannot stand in the same sector as the closed door. If you do, there will be home. Therefore, your sector needs to be only slightly bigger than the door.

Using the cogs can have problems. If you put enemies behind the door they will be able to see you right through it.

LEC didn't have this problem because they paid attention to how they made their doors. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]
