Punching, Sound, Zero-G and Floor problems
2001-07-12, 6:25 AM #1
I've got 4 main problems:
- Levels I make in JKEdit don't seem to allow users to punch things (walls, other players etc.)
- Sound disappears in places (mainly when using the lightsaber)
- When using the Zero-G cog, sometimes player can still float when they leave the sector, but can't get down either and have to kill themselves. Also, in Zero-G sectors, sometiems firing/changing weapons takes away Zero-G for some players and they fall to the floor
- The player seems to sink into certain floors, even though they seem to be flagged exactly the same as others

I could REALLY do with as much help as possible with these problems so I can get my level released.

JKedit= buggy crap

So, what exactly are you saying, I should make the level again, or import into JED and use some tool/s to fix the bugs (please say it's the second, 'cos it took ages to make)

Just stop using JKedit. If you want to save your work, download Jed, and just open the .jkl file with it.

i have a feeling that JKedit probably didnt save the JKL right, and left out some templates, most likely the +punch template, anyway, i dont use JKedit and i find JED to be just....awesome. so use JED
I'm just an old man with a skooma problem.

Is there a tool/plugin in JED that can check for common errors and correct them, because I think I've heard of something like this

Cool, I loaded it into JED, spruced it up a bit, reflagged some surfaces and saved it. Definitely fixed the floor and fists problems. Not sure about the Zero-G and sound problems, I'll need to test it on the Zone for them. Good advice, I would have use JED from the start but I find the interace hard to move around and select things in. I'd prefer a more Worldcraft kind of editor for JK. Let's hope Lucasarts will give us an editor for Outcast

Don't worry, Jed is harder to learn at first, but once you understand how it works and practice with it you'll see that it's much more capable than JKedit.
