When I used to make levels for Q3 I remember asking players if they liked them but everyone who answered said no. I notice alot of JK levels have traps, but are they really that popular? I would like to know so I know if to leave them out or put them in. I personally like them, but there's no point putting them in levels I plan to release if the majority of players don't like them.

I like 'em. In Cayon Oasis v2, it's fun to push someone into the damage area and flipping on the switch.

I think there are good when used inventively... there have been some quite interesting levels with traps.. for example a Carbon Freeze level availabe at www.JediOutcastMaps.com which allows you to throw players in the carbon freeze!! I'd say, don't be discouraged to use your creativity, go for it!

I used to play Empire Night Club and Jedi High School at the Zone quite regularly and they were popular trap-levels. Ok that's JK1 stuff but hey, this is that community.

Another question is: do people also like secret areas?
