you could use a circular brush and then "carve" your level with it using csg substract.. but that will creat about 19231 new brushes and will drop the framerate. Try it anyways.. if the resulting number of brushed is still acceptable, don't forget to caulk every surfaces the player won't see in game and you may get away with it.

But the best way to anything with the q3 engine is to build everything from simple-yet-intelligently-chosen brushes. Think your level ahead... that way you won't have to carve.

You may want to try making two arches, putting them together, and turning them on their side.

u cant do that, well maybe but it would be insanely difficult, i agree that u should create a new brush and subtract it. or maybe if its an endlesss pit make a large and deep cylinder with no light entities in it and use some sort of trigger that will kill the player if they fall to deep in it

elijahsback's method is generally the best way to do it. CSG Subtract isn't usually the best way to do things, as you have no control over the way it splits brushes.

I would suggest two 2x1 multiple arches.... putting them together then stretching to the size u wanted. CSG subtract would be difficult... since if you subtract a 5 sided brush you get dozens of brushes, therefore a 12 sided one (for example) would give hundreds.
