Map Compiling

I have learned that JK2Radiant has problems compiling maps in Windows XP. Does this apply to Windows 2000 as well. Does anyone have problems producing a .bsp file? I create a map. I compile the map and it makes a .bak file. I understand that I need a .bsp file. Is this a result of some error? This is most annoying. Your help is appreciated.

I have recived this error in Win 2000

"'C:\Docume~1\B is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
The system cannot find the path specified."

which error are you facing? or does it do nothing when trying to complie? It seems to work fine on Win 2000 now for me, so I don't think that that would be the problem.
Have you tried GTK yet? If not give that a try.

Ok...now this is strange. I haven't done anything and it started to produce the .bsp file. It seems as though I had to compile a few times for it to finally produce my .bsp file. Does anyone know if there is an untold secret to compiling a simple .map file to a .bsp file?

Not sure why yours is doing it but the first time i used the Radiant and saved a map it did the .bak file as well, but only because i saved it to the wrong file/folder...so make sure you're saving it in the right place.

Thank you Yoda. That must be the problem.
