Light beams/light shaders

Just a couple of questions concerning lights...

1) How do you make a beam of light? As in, a brush that is basically a controlled light source. You make a brush, use a certain shader and that shader makes that brush into a beam of light.

2) How do you make a shader give off light? How can you make light shaders? Is there a tutorial somewhere on it?

1) The "Light Beam" you speak of doesn't acctually give off light, it is just a shade slapped on a brush that makes it appear that way...

2) I'm not 100% sure about this, but I don't think that there is a way to make brushes themselves give off light...

In order to light your level effectively, PLEASE!! learn how to use spotlights.... there is a tutorial at 007's website that is very good.... link anyone?

Eh... Not really what I was asking for... Thanks for the effort, anyway.

I'm pretty sure that the shaders for the light beam are supposed to generate a light source.

For that second question I asked... I know that it's possible to make shaders give off light, since I've seen it done before. It's most likely with shader scripts(or something else, I have no idea), which I haven't learned about yet, and haven't found any tutorials on.

You don't have to worry about directing me to any spotlight tutorials. Believe me, I've had enough experience using the things already [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]. It's just that, the normal light entities don't give enough freedom, and for the kinds of effects and lights I want to produce, they just don't cut it.
