Waypoint and Point_Combat???

This tutorial tells jack about how to do it! It just says that you need to do this stuff, but it doesn't tell you how. Great tutorial. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/rolleyes.gif]. How the crap do you 'attach' the npc to the waypoint and point combat? I tried doing this, but there were no arrows like in the tut and when I loaded my map the npc didn't move (which was plainly in sight of the first waypoint).
Sigh..

Yes, that tutorial sucks. :\

I was fooling around with the glider NPC a day or so ago, trying to get it to move instead of sit there like a lump on a log. I made some waypoints. I then selected the glider NPC, then the waypoint and linked them with CTRL-K (I'm sure you know that). I linked that waypoint to the next, and that waypoint to the next, etc. I then used a basic ICARUS script which set the behavior state to BS_WANDER, so it wandered around, and it did.

For that tutorial, I think you just make waypoints, link them like I did, and add point_combats. You could try adding multiple point_combats, so hopefully they will move more often and don't let you just smite them with your lightsaber or whatever. If not, you'll have to do some more advanced routing with ICARUS. Just checkout the ICARUS manual, it explains all the behavoir stuff, it's pretty easy.

Do waypoints affect ally npcs say if you have jan she will follow up a path?

Because when I add Jan to a level, she follows me but if i go around a corner or up stairs she either trys to go in a straigh towards me (being blocked by the wall or whatever) would that be fixed if i putwaypoints in the level??

Yeah, I think waypoints fix that. I know partner NPCs are affected by them, because at the start of kejim_post, Jan is peeking around the corner at those guards, she's not stuck to you like other times. She also waits by the blast door.

[http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] I can't get it to work. I didn't know about that ctrl + k thing, but now I do thanks to Emon. I got it set up perfectly with the waypoints and arrows and stuff, but when the gran sees me, he just starts attacking like normal. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] Isn't he supposed to run through the waypoints and stuff and then start attacking?

You may need a script to tell him what to do, I'm not sure. Take a look at the first few guards in the kejim_post.map.

Well, actually, to get an NPC going through the waypoints and to point_battle, you don't need a script (unless its to make an NPC walkup to a certain point (then in that case you would need waypoint_navgoal) or make a npc patrol between two points.)

To have the NPCs run through those points and go to the point_battles when they spot you and attack, you simply need to put them in the game and link waypoints for paths.

And its also the same thing for Ally NPCs who follow you. Simply set (many) waypoints around corners and up stairs and such. I'm still having trouble making my npc follower go up stairs [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]
