Updating JO...
2003-11-01, 7:33 AM #1
I know this should be in the JO forum, but it's basically dead, so there's no point in posting there. I'll never get any replies there.

My JO is old and obsolete. v1.02. So I d/l 1.03 and try installing it, and for some reason, it can't find my JO folder. So I try reinstalling it. Erm, I can't. My disc is scratched, so it crashes the installer at 1%... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

How Can I install the patch without having to reinstall JO? It won't let me browse for the right folder, it automatically looks, and if it's not found, then it says I need to reinstall, which I can't. Help! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

What is your install path? Is it something wildly different from the norm?

No offence but thats an ugly path. I think the patch is looking for...

C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast\GameData

You know, look under the patch's settings and change the paths. It may be looking for the default path.

What are you talking about? It's a beautiful path! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

I can't find anywhere I can change the path by right-clicking and pressing "properties"... Is there a specific thing I must do to change the path?

I don't remember really. I downloaded the patch long time ago.

When the insaller comes up, I guess you change where the stuff will be exported to.

I can't. The instant I open it, the very first message I get is:

Hold on... wait... OMG. It works. I just have to copy all my JO files from C:/Games/Jedi Outcast to C:/Program Files/LucasArts/Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast...

Wait. So slow.

You could have gone to the regedit
and look under:

HEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC\1.0

and look at the "Installed Path"
double click on that and type whatever path you want.....

Thats if the reg keys are in their.

Don't think so, my JO was installed to E:\Games\JO.

Yeah, I ****ing hate this crap where the string for the program directory is longer than the manuals for the game!

C:\Winblows M$ stupid Program Files\Long Name of Parent Company Here\Long Name of the Developer Here\Long Name of the Game Series Here\Long Name of the Specific Game Here

ARGH!

Makes me yearn for the days when directory names were limited to 8 characters! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Oh yeah, and since I'm ranting, don't update JO. 1.03 killed it. My signature about not playing jk2mp.exe came about AFTER 1.03 (and no I wasn't a DFA or red stance whore, they just made sabers into whiffleball bats).

Shaving is not a high priority with Jedi.
Would you want to shave with a lightsaber?

I don't like quake, never liked quake, and don't like Star Wars quake. So basically jk2mp.exe never gets used on my computer.

...I don't play MP... The 1.03 update is great for SP. It adds 3D sound, which I have no idea why it wasn't in JO before...
