Scripting for a Newbie
2004-05-31, 2:20 PM #1
I'm making a new project that will last longer than the previous one. One, that will probably overshadow all of my Rise of Nations work. I'm new to scripting. And I'm going to need to learn eventually. What program should I use for scripting?

My first Scripting task I want to do is the following:

1.) Using models from Jedi Academy, or ones that I make, I would like them to have "blood" squirt out at certain places after being shot.
2.) I would also like to have a "one-shot" ... "one-kill" feature. So if you get shot in the head, neck, you're dead. If you get shot in the arms, legs, hands, or feet, you loose 1/2 of your life. This shall also work for AI models.

Thanks for all the Help! More will be posted later.

1) Change the hit sparks (the orange ones) to red.

2) I think the damage per shot is coded (if for SP). You might to check the weapon.cfg file (but I doubt it). :-/

Well, for scripting you can use behave ed. Which came with the JA SDK. (not sure though). It also came with the JK2 editing tools.

But for editing things like a .cfg file. Such as echoman suggested. You can just use notepad.

There's some sort of command to make limbs pop off at death. I'd assume you could simply give more damage when a certain limb is attacked using this code, but applying it to projectiles.

Yet another +1 for the JK editor posting in the JA forums.

I hate you both, and I wish you'd die.
