Well I have been working on Remnant Temple Part b. The problem is compling is taking forever. It takes about 40 minutes to do a large room, 2 corridors and a average room. I make plenty of brushes detail also and whats wierd is whenever i make more brushes detail it seems that it takes longer. q3map2 is starting to get on my nerves. I want my ol bsp fullvis normal command back.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure that you didnt make brushes that are touching the nothing (HOM) are detail brushes. If these brushes are detail brushes they can cause a crash (my computer) or siriously slow the bsp progress

No. That causes map leaks. I know not to do that.

Could you post a compile log?

Well how bout i just tell you what happens. It gets into the vis process (which is usually pretty long but shouldnt be this long) and then it seems to stay on the last portal thing forever. When i say that im talkin about when it goes 1...2...3...4.. etc. It gets to 6 or 7 and starts going especially slow. Its also just never finished the job before. I want q3map2 to just do a regular bsp fullvis but i dont have that command and ive been trying to get it back but it wont seem to work.

Nevermind. I think i figured out was wrong after i read a tutorial about detail/hint brushes. It made me realize my mistake and it will take me a long time to fix it. But anyway while im on the subject. Where can i download q3map toolz? I know there is one place to download it but it requires a gamespy id and i dont want crap. Anyone know another place to get it? Anyway thanks for the comments/suggestions/idiocy.

I asked you to post a compile log for very good reason: It holds an awful lot of technical data that culd point out what the problem is. VIS exists of more than just calculating how nodes are visdible - it's gotta set up a lot of stuff as well, and it's affected by BSP in various ways. With a compile log, I think I'd have been able to see your problem right away.

Also, dump q3map2toolz and use a batch file. Search the forums here, I've p[osted how to use them multiple times.

if you cant find it. Here is one from gothicx [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

"D:\games\GtkRadiant-1.3\q3map2.exe" -meta -samples 4 -game ja "D:\games\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\GameData\Base\maps\yavina.map"
"D:\games\GtkRadiant-1.3\q3map2.exe" -vis -game ja "D:\games\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\GameData\Base\maps\yavina.bsp"
"D:\games\GtkRadiant-1.3\q3map2.exe" -light -fast -patchshadows -samples 3 -gamma 2 -game ja "D:\games\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\GameData\Base\maps\yavina.bsp"

the meaning is

"Path to Q3 map compiler" -meta -samples 4 -game ja "path to JA or JO\THE MAP.map"
"Path to Q3 map compiler" -vis -game ja "path to JA or JO\THE MAP.bsp"
"Path to Q3 map compiler" -light -fast -patchshadows -samples 3 -gamma 2 -game ja "path to JA or JO\THE MAP.bsp"

So...
"007...Whats your name"
"The name is bond...James Bond"
"No, i mean your other codename"
"Dont tell this any further. Its need help"

That's a close-to-final compile. Check Q3map2 Wiki for more switches and info on them and their usage.
