Adding Arrows, Scratches, Blood Splatters

I have been able to find tutorials on making the actual splatch shaders to apply to the walls, but I cant figure out how to add the splats to walls in GTKRadiant.

I tried importing an arrow decal? from t2_rancor (for JA) but I couldn't get it to appear on the wall, what is the standard procedure for this?

You have two possible ways to use decals: The standard, native one and a kind of imported one, which will require some tweaking.

In the standard way just create a brush block out of nodraw. Apply the decal shader on one surface, and then move/adjust the block so that the decal surface shares the same level as the wall/floor. With other textures it would cause Z-fighting, but with decals it's ok.

The other way is the projected decal, and that's something you can't do unless you are brave enough to edit some Radiant source files. This method allows you to project decals on nonlevel surfaces, like curvy patches. Very cool stuff, and not your everyday mapping... Not all people are privy to this knowledge, and I only mention it to feel selfimportant.

If you want to know more about the second way, the projection decals, then one option I can suggest is to go here:
http://www.map-review.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=19068#19068

And start reading the posts from that point onwards (at least to the next page until you reach the _decal entity config entry). It's a bit messy in the way of explanation or instruction, but if you read it carefully enough, you should get the idea of what's going on and what needs to be done. I suggest you make back-ups before editing any source files, though.

Edit: No offense, but if you want to thank somebody, make sure you write the name correctly... That would be polite.
