"-light" stage of compile takes way too long

Alright, so i've been mapping now for about 2 months. And its GREAT!! except for the fact that my compiles i think are taking way too long. I know what some of you might be thinking, I don't have my brushes as detail brushes, but thats not it. I did that, i made all of the brushes on my map detail brushes except for the huge box i have around my map. When i watch to see what the compiler is doing it usually goes through
-bsp, and -vis in a few seconds. Its the -light that is killing me. My map isn't that huge it has about 1200 brushes and 30 entities (most of the entities are lights). just for an experiment i deleted all of the lights on my map but it still doesn't help. My map is outdoors though, so it has a sky. Please help i have no idea how to decrease my compile times. in fact i haven't been able to compile it fullvis in quite a while. it just takes way too long.

What editor are you using?

Also, turning brushes into details won't make the -light process shorting. It only affects the -vis process.

i actually have tried both jk2radiant and gtkradiant 1.2.8 but they both seem to get stuck on the -light stage.

I've had -light stages of over 3 hours. Get used to it.

Alright, thanks I tried compiling again and gktradiant finished in about an hour  . Jk2radiant apparently doesn't work well for compiling because the other night it didn't even finish in 6 hours.

JK2radiant uses an inferior compiler to GTKradiant's q3map2
