I made a "Curve" Patch mesh, and the inside is invisible and penetratable, whereas the outside is just like a brush, solid and shootable, and you can see it. This isn't for that house level, it was abandoned. This is a new project, which IMO looks promising. I'm using GTK Radiant, not JK2 Radiant.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Right. That's how patch meshes work.
If you want to have both sides solid+shootable, clone the exising one. Select one of them and hit Curve>Matrix>Invert (or Ctrl+I). This will give you 2 patch meshes with opposite mesh sides.
