OK, I guess I'm new here, but I'm not new to editing games and making new levels. I've read tutorials for creating new maps in Radiant that are now on this adress : http://www.richdiesal.map-craft.com/tutorials/index.html and some tutorials about scripting, but I cant find anywhere how to make subtitles in game
when cinematics are running. For example, I dont know if I need to make something in radiant (except for map itself) and then make scripts in BehavED or just use BehavEd. Also I don't know how to make ROQ files (menu and ingame) and I cant find any tutorials.

If there is anyone who can help me ... well... please do!

P.S. I am glad that there is still interest in editing Jedi Outcast, but I wonder why there are no more SP maps when they are the best. If anyone is interested in viewing my map - You can download it from Massassi (JO Part 2). --> a little commercial ! :D

Correct me if I'm wrong, subtitles are written outside of scripting. But scripting commands are required in order for them to appear in the game. Check out assets0.pk3 and look under the "strings" folder. You can see those files are subtitles for the maps (and for the different languages too.)

From "academy1.str" You can open them with Wordpad or Notepad.

It appears the lines of text refer to a certain file sound (the file sound is the voice of the person speaking.) So when a NPC is told to say something in his script file, cetain subtitles appear when certain voice files are used in cutscenes.

It's been a long time since I worked with subtitles. Hopefully I remembered correctly.

You are wrong! :D just kiding. Yes subtitles are written outside of scripting, but for JO they are in assets1.pk3 in strip folder and they are strip files I guess and not string. But I knew that already. the problem is I dont know how to put them in game so that they apear when someone is talking. I tried using some scripts in BehavEd but they didnt appear in game although they were put into strip folder and in pk3.

I dont know if i need to put something in map like target_speaker (just an example) or not and is there some special way for creating strip (.sp) files and what commands I have to use in BehavEd to make it appear in game. And on the other hand there are also problems with creating ROQ files. :confused:

Er, I forgot to mention I was using JA. opps

I assume you got the voices working with the NPC, correct? Like in the example of the file I posted, did you remember to use only capital letters when mentioning the sound files the text goes with? Are you sure the .str file is named after the .bsp it is used for?

Could you post your cutscene script (only when the NPC speaks if the script is long) and the .str file? I don't think a target_speaker is needed for a NPC conversation.

Yes, you assume good :D. The voices are working with the NPC, I said target_speaker just for an example. It's used to create map sounds like fire burning, sparks... .bsp and .sp files had the same name, but when you are saying about capital letters, do they have to be in .sp files ( example:

REFERENCE BLABLA
LANG_ENGLISH "Bla, bla!" )

and in sound file names ( example BLABLA.mp3 ) or it can be ( blabla.mp3) or maybe it has to contain some numbers ( blabla001.mp3 ).

And how did you make that text box in your first replay?
