I'm new at using JK2 radient. can someone please tell me what settings I need to change in order to make a multiplayer map?

File --> Project settings --> change to Multiplayer.

yes, but when I went into settings, it has all these file extentions. am I in the wrong settings?

It should be "mapping mode". But I don't even remember.

No one uses JK2radiant anymore to edit that game. People use GtKradiant, which is like JK2radiant, but better in every way.

GTKRadiant also works on any game that uses the Q3 engine and improved versions of it, including Doom 3.

download and install GTKRadiant 1.4
it will make your life so much easier and then you can go by the screenshot above

do you need quake3 to use or play levels with gtkradiant? I'm not sure if I have it.

I got Gtkradiant installed and working. Thanks for the help!

one last question though, if I get one of the other games that works with radiant, all I have to do is select the game from the list when the program first starts up, or will I need to reinstall gtkradiant?

Just restart Gtkradiant. A box should pop up everytime you use the editor asking what game you want to edit for. Just choose Jedi Knight 2 from the list and everything should be fine.

You'll thank us later when you see how better it is over JK2radiant.
