Question with surfaces - Jedi Outcast
2012-01-08, 6:06 PM #1
Greetings!

I know, my question is slightly outdated. However, it's my first time trying this.

So, to keep on the subject: with my brother, we still play Jedi Outcast sometimes. Now I decided to create a custom skin for it; and it requires switching some surfaces on and off.

I learnt how to do this, and it works fine with the default skin. However, for the blue and red models, I just can't get it to work (the .skin files do work, only the .surf ones do not). I did everything that seemed reasonable, including copying-pasting the files and renaming them, I edited everything a lot, for no avail. The undesired surfaces still appear on the blue-red models. Did anyone encounter this problem and does anyone know how to solve this?

Thank you in advance!

When you mean "switching surfaces on and off" you mean some sort of shader property?

I don't know if it's a shader property. All I know is that it is possible to hide or display some surfaces of certain models with the files of the extension .surf. This is what I tried to use.
