Yep, So I've been sitting on this video my friend and I made for.. 6 months now? I figure it's time I get off my lazy butt and do it. I need to add special effects, mainly the lightsabers.

So yeah. I need a free video editor that can do that. Thanks!

Perhaps MGI VideoWave III? I don't think it's free, though.

Axagon. There's a free version online from back before they started charging people to use it.

but seriously, alamdv is good.. i think.. can't remember if you can save with the trial though.

Personally i'd say.. DON'T DON'T DO IT!!! I'm already regretting path to darkness - some random person will probably show it to me when i'm 30!

You could always get a demo of Adobe Premier and then convert your video to filmstrip then draw the sabers in in photoshop. I do it all the time
(PS. Im not really sure if there is a demo of premier, im making this up off the top of my head)
