Note: Some language.

Heres a clue: A car in snow, dumb kids, rope, truck, bumper, major repairs needed.

Haha my friend sent that to me... I was rofling at their idiocy.

First mistake: not shoveling the snow from around the car before pulling it out

Second mistake: pulling the car along the snowbank rather than straight out of it

The owner of that car must've been pissed. I bet next time one of their cars gets stuck though, they'll let a professional with a tow truck take care of it. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

First mistake: Not simply pushing the car forward, off of the snow bank.

Second mistake: Not attaching the cable to the axle, but attaching it to the soft platic on the bottom of the bumper.

The bumpers on modern cars cant handle that kind of pressure. They are designed to collapse and fall away in an acident, unlike the old days, when a bumper could withstand a direct nuclear attack.

I dont think it was attached to the bumper itself, it took a lot of tension before it ripped off...

Yeah, and i don't know if you noticed, but there was a lot more than bumper laying all over the ground. The entire back of the car came off.

Most modern cars do not have frames, they have unibodies. Sometimes cars will have tow strap loops under the car if you look hard, but otherwise, there is *no* safe place to tow without damage (even the axle is just plain stupid). Still, the tow loops aren't meant for any kind of serious pressure, and it may be time to look into other ideas.

Trucks on the other hand, still do not like to have their bumpers pulled, but have frames. If you've got a hitch, you may be able to loop it around that, as they are designed to tow a ton or two.

These people are just morons, there's absolutely no other excuse. They towed it further into the snow bank, and didn't even attempt to shovel the snow.

The worst part is, that if they had just shoveled it out a bit and used all of them to push, they coudl have easily gotten the car out with human effort.

But also, the primary reason that it destroyed the car: the guy in the truck was stupid. He let the tow strap get slack and then snapped it with full force. Idiocy.

I think the number one mistake they made was trying it again after pulling the bumper out a little the first time.

That was my favorite part. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]
