Radeon 9800 128MB vs. GeForce4 Ti4800

Yea, I don't have the money for either right now, but which would be the better choice? Also is there much of a difference in comparison to the 9700 & 9600 models or the Ti4600 & Ti4200 models?

Any new Radeon > than any equivalent GeForce card right now.

Between the Radeon 9800 vs Nvidia Ti 4800, there's no doubt that the Radeon 9800 is better. Why? the Radeon 9800 will run DirectX 9 games, where the GF 4 Ti 4800 is older DirectX 8 hardware. Also, the Radeon 9800 will probably run games up to twice as fast as a GF 4 Ti 4800.

The "equivalent" hardware for Nvidia vs ATI is the following:

DirectX 8 level cards:
Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti 4800 vs. ATI Radeon 9200 Pro (Nvidia wins here hands-down)

DirectX 9 level cards
Nvidia GeForce FX 5900 vs. ATI Radeon 9800 (Generally considered a tie)

Current high-end
Nvidia GeForce FX 5900 Ultra vs. ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Nvidia GeForce FX 5950 Ultra vs. ATI Radeon 9800 XT

Radeon 9800 by far

...yeah a Geforce 4 is not even in the same league as a 9800. They are from totally different generations.

Would the 9700 or 9600 be just a good seeing as they're a bit cheaper?

uh...wot? My GeForce4 competes heftily with the 9600 pro. The only problem is no DX9. Still is about the same card, though more expensive...Ti4400. But yah, Radeon.

Since all the FX cards are DX9 impaired, I'd stay away from them.

The newest one's aren't I think Emon, as they have 8 pixel pipelines I think...the FX5900 SE is a very good deal right now.
