After spending 45 minutes trying to make an icon set with Object Desktop's Icon Packager, only to have it NOT save ANY of my work, I'm looking around for any other program that will allow me to change the system set of icons quickly. I've had it with Icon Packager. Any suggestions?

To address the fonts portion of my topic... I'm making a background that I'll eventually release here that I'm sure quite a few of you will like, AND I'll be willing to edit it to any color and upload it. However, I need a pixel font that I can get VERY VERY small and not look like a group of black blocks. I think I'm talking below 8pt. here, I'd have to check again. With the exception of the font and the text I'll place with it, the image is at least 80% done. Again, any suggestions?

Thanks for the help.

i've never had a problem with icon packer.

I managed to change all my icons sucsessfully.

Most fonts will look bad when they are very small. I belive, though I got a font called "Bank gothic MT" to about 7pt without it looking horrible.

Changing icon packs isn't the problem. I was trying to create a pack Icon Packager would use from a group of icons I downloaded last night. I finished setting it up, saved it, and then tried to install it. Icon Packager claimed it wasn't a valid format (wtf? It freaking MADE the file...). Yet it shoved all sorts of crap in the "themes" folder and added this non-working set to its list. So I go and delete the crap in the themes folder and try and rid the set in the listings, but it doesn't let me. So I quit. It asks if I want to save my changes. I say no. I've already saved the icon pack I made. However, guess what it did? It freaking DELETED my saved work. It may just be my ignorance, but that just really peeved me.

I plan to fight it again tomarrow. I like the icons I downloaded, but it'd be an all out pain in the a** to change them one by one without a program like Icon Packager.

I'm getting ready to try the font you suggested now, I'll let you know how it works.
