23 years ago today John Lennon was shot and killed outside the Dakota complex in NEw York. Truly one of the saddest days in the history of rock.

I miss John.

When I went to the first night of the Bridge School, I left early, while Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young were playing, and I swear in the amount of time it took me to leave the audience I literally heard at least five people say "I wish The Beatles were still alive."

And I do too.

There are places I'll remember
All my life
Though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone, and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In My Life, I've loved them all.

------------------
To myself I surrender to the one I'll never please.
But I still try to run on.
You know I still try to run on. But it's all or none.

...

They are. At least two of them are. I'll assume you meant either "I wish Lennon was still alive." or "I wish The Beatles were still together." I think the latter is correct.

Such a sad thing. I think the world really needs another group like them.

I've got mixed feelings about that. While their early-mid stuff was amazing and their late stuff was innovative, I would have to wonder, they would have to have fizzled out sometime. Sometimes it might just be better to go out at the top than to fade into obscurity. And that's why we love them.
