Before I commence with my reign of terror, I'd just like to let the admins know that they screwed up. Before, the staff held all the power because they were the only ones who could remove content - they decided what stayed and what was censored away into nothingness. But now they have handed that power of censorship over to the common man, and I for one do not intend to miss out on the opportunity!

I will post on a thread, wait five or ten minutes, and then delete my post. But by that time, you will have already seen my post and so when you check again you'll be like, "hey, didn't Tracer just post here?" and I'll be like, "Yep!" but then I'll delete that too, and in such a manner I will blur the divide between what you perceive as real and what is only imagined. I WILL DRIVE YOU MAD.

So my point is that it's a mistake to give internet community members anything but restrictions. In fact, we probably shouldn't even be allowed to write our own posts. Just provide everybody with some generic situations, let them fill in the blanks and off we go...

It removes all the evidence for everything. If anyone can say anything and then just delete it, where's the proof?

What's showing anyone that he didn't say it? I could just say "Well he said it and then deleted it!"

Goatse being taken down has been a hot topic of debate for the past few weeks...hell there was even a petition at petitiononline.com demanding it be brought back. It had several thousand signatures and was among the top 5 petitions for a fair while. A dark day in internet history.

On a related note, the comments section of that petition is an amusing read.

I can verify that it is, Tracer. MechWarrior spent about 20 minutes in #massassi trying to justify thread deletion with the gem of wisdom (paraphrase): "I'd sooner delete a thread than get banned".
