Well I shall not be paying any amount of money for the Special Edition. I didn't like the way they *******ized the movies in the first place, and I'm sad that they won't be releasing the real movies on DVD. Oh well.
See, the way I see it is that the Star Wars movies aren't George Lucas's movies. George Lucus doesn't pay $15 for a movie ticket to see them, or anything like that. The way I see it, these are my movies, and Lucus should do what the fans want. I think that the majority of fans would like to see the original trilogy on DVD. Surely a platinum edition with both versions would please everyone. There is no reason to not put both, other than Lucas's weird CG fetish. Heck, he could charge more money for a set incuding both versions and people would pay the price.
I have the original triology on VHS, and I guess I will live with that. When the time comes in a couple of years, I'll find a way to transfer them on to a DVD format, I'm sure.
