The original "Star Wars" from 1977 is the second-highest-grossing movie of all time in the U.S. (behind "Titanic"), and all three "Star Wars" movies in the trilogy still rank in the Top 20.

Yeah, but back in the 70s a movie ticket only cost two or three dollars, as opposed to the 7 or 8 dollars when Titanic was released. Star Wars wins. After considering inflation, Star Wars wins by quite a large amount.

After considering inflation, "Gone with the Wind" actually ranks number 1.

Anyways, I'm very happy they are being released. Been waiting a long time for it. Now I dont have to watch the VHS ones on the way down to Florida.

I was actually hoping for DVDs of the Special Editions. Except for the Han-Greedo bit, I think the SEs are better versions.

You know, you could just get the laserdisc version of the trilogy. It's the original release and has awesome video quality. Sure it's a HUGE disc, but at least it will last longer than VHS.

Aren't they using the SE versions?

What are the plot twists that soften Han Solo?

Greedo shooting first....which is hardly a plot twist.

Isn't it in the novelisation that Han shot second? I think that Lucas says in the interview that they originally intended for greedo to shoot first, but they couldn't get the shot right for some reason. *shrug* I didn't care. I like the SE versions of the trilogy. It sucks that they don't have both on the DVDs but I'll buy it anyways.

And Indiana Jones was never meant to shoot the guy who did all the fancy flippy sword moves in the bazaar, but because Harrison Ford had the runs (the ****s), he opted to shoot the man instead of following the script which was to turn and run away instead.

The best moments in cinema history don't have to be intentional.

Well I shall not be paying any amount of money for the Special Edition. I didn't like the way they *******ized the movies in the first place, and I'm sad that they won't be releasing the real movies on DVD. Oh well.

See, the way I see it is that the Star Wars movies aren't George Lucas's movies. George Lucus doesn't pay $15 for a movie ticket to see them, or anything like that. The way I see it, these are my movies, and Lucus should do what the fans want. I think that the majority of fans would like to see the original trilogy on DVD. Surely a platinum edition with both versions would please everyone. There is no reason to not put both, other than Lucas's weird CG fetish. Heck, he could charge more money for a set incuding both versions and people would pay the price.

I have the original triology on VHS, and I guess I will live with that. When the time comes in a couple of years, I'll find a way to transfer them on to a DVD format, I'm sure.
