what do the words in your head say?

Do they say "kay-oh-pee Snake" or "cop snake"

If they say "kay-oh-pee Snake" then you are right to think that.

However, if they say "cop snake", GET IT RIGHT, cus you're thinkin the wrong way.

BTW, if you should reply, I'll try and tell you how I would pronounce your name.

And for anyone saying they dont know what KOP means, and/or were "serving their memory correctly"... I already posted its meaning. Shame on you for reading the first post only then replying [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Maybe if people stop having ridiculous user names people will say them "in their head" correctly.

And I realise that references to 1984 are pretty much on the level with Nazis but... Thoughtcrime, much?

1984 relation Nazis doubleplusungood. Rectify.

If you make an abbrevation that can be further abbreviated when spoken, it generally will be. For example: AIDS, NASA, DARE and so forth.

There are some exceptions, but I don't think KOP is one. Since it's a clan and cops are authority figures it's hard to assume that you didn't mean for the abbreviation to have a dual meaning. If you didn't think about the pronunciation of your abbreviation before forming it, that's your problem. My school, CUD [colorado university at denver], has the same problem. I'm not going to split up the letters and talk/think slower just so whoever named it doesn't look foolish.

Oh, obviously I meant references to 1984 are on a level with references to Nazis, not Nazis themselves.

And even the Nazis didn't insist people go around calling them... whatever it stands for... I forget...

And, now for everyone else:-

Kop Snake. Roach. Bee Yawn. Demon Nightmare. Money Obi. Rod Nog. Axis. Dee Ess Etthar. Finger Ez. Genki. Finity Five. Silent Rhapsody. Mystic Oh. Happy Dude. Spork. Gee Bee Kay. Schming. Iss Nine Oh Seven. Checksum. Fast Gamerr (lengthened R). Avenger. Yecti. Matthew Pate (like the foodstuffs). Fish Sticks. Mask. Prince Zizor.

Here endeth the lesson.

I think "COP", because technically anacronyms should have .s between each word. However, nowadays it has becoming increasingly acceptable to just capitalize the letters.

So there - I have made up a BS justification for mispronouncing your name!

Hmmm... "GhostOfYoda" is fairly self-explanatory to pronounce. However, when it comes to "GoY" I don't care how you pronouce it. I think of it as "Goi", simply because people kept on saying "goy" around me on IRC for a long time, and it took me a while to realise they were talking about me, and by then, it was stuck in my mind as one word.
