Sounds like it hurt. On a similar face smacking note, yesterday I was pole vaulting and I hit the bar and it bounced off my knees and hit me in the face. After I fell on to the nice fluffy mats I proceeded to bleed all over the place. At first we thought my nose was broken, but after X-rays and such it turns out it is just very badly bruised with a large lump on the left side. Oh the joys of face pain...
