I just bought Black and White for PC, and I've installed it. Now, when I try to run the EXE, the splash screen shows, disappears, and then...

Nothing happens. I checked the Process Manager, and it's not running. No BNW. When I use the Autorun on the CD, the same thing happens, only the splash screen doesn't show.

I have a Pentium 4 1.7 GHz, 512 MB of RAM, some sort of midrange ATI Radeon card. A 9500, I think. Anyway, any ideas on what I should do?

2) Put it down on some cement
3) Grab a hammer
4) Smash CD with hammer repeatedly
5) Put Call of Duty in your CD drive
6) Enjoy

I recently started dabbling around in B&W again...which, despite the idiotic opinion of Kieran *is* a good game.

Have you patched it yet?

What OS are you running?

It tends to not work under Windows XP. If the patch doesn't work, then it probably will never work. The expansion does work though, oddly enough.

I know if you havn't run Windows Update in a while, there is an update in the Windows XP section of it that is supposed to solve the exact problem you're having. I recommend you check it out. As for me, I got Black and White to work fine.

If he's running Win2k, I had the exact same problem.

Though, once I patched it and fixed that problem, I had difficulty getting the sound to work consistently.

I've patched it, installed the Windows Update, and I'm running XP.

I paid 20 dollars for this game, I demand satisfaction!

Crappy AI, incredibly annoying and generic sound, mediocre graphics, boring weapons. Couple that with the fact that I'm downright sick of WW2 games, and it's just a no-go for me. Anyway, I still need help with Black and White.

I used to have difficulty with Black and White too. Then I realized the problem was that despite all the rave reviews, it was a fundamentally boring game. I swear to God, if I here those little boat-builders sing "We can't leave like little weiners/Til we buy some carribeaners..." or whatever one more time, I will kill the person who happens to playing Black and White within earshot.

Of course I have appreciation for it. That doesn't mean I have to like it. It doesn't mean I can't think it's just MOH with better graphics.
