Q3A source leaked? Either Carmack's toying with everybody, or somebody just couldn't wait for it to be GPLed any longer. I haven't heard anything that this happened, though... t would have at least been mentioned at some places...

As for Commander Keen, anybody with any real programming experience can easily re-create it with modern tools... After all, Softkey merely turned Carmack's offer down because it required EGA...

Yeah, Quake3 was kinda like watching "Queer Eye for the Quake Guy", but Call of Duty fully made up for it! So did Medal of Honor, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Enemy Territory, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, and maybe Alice.

We'll just forget about FAKKED2 and Elite Farce.

Hrm. I didn't think Carmack would GPL Quake 3 by this Christmas. I thought there were still Q3 engine games in development. Part of the delay for Quake 2 was because so many titles still used it, even well after Q3 was released.

Either way, I don't think a leak/opensourcing would help *us*. Not unless the same nice people leaked/opensourced a Raven CVS dump too.

I just heard that the Super Mario 3 source code was leaked. God, Nintendo is screwed.

There are rumours of a Call of Duty expansion due in October. They'll probably announce it at E3.

These Norwegians announced a Quake3 game last year but I doubt we'll see it this year, or ever!

Urban Terror is not going retail. It's being ported to Enemy Territory and released as a free game.

Apocalyptica changed from Quake3 to an in-house engine, called Evolution.

Activision cancelled "Trinity" last November, and Electronic Arts cancelled "The World Is Not Enough" ages ago.

So it's looking good for a Christmas release of the Quake3 code, unless the COD expansion slips into 2004.
