I came across this IM utility while browsing through the America's Army Official Site. What it appears to be is an IM where you can instantly find you gaming buddies online, and then instantly join the game they're in, or even simply message them to let them know where you are, or what you're doing.

Here's the link to the XFire Site. Is this program even worth downloading? I've downloaded it, but I haven't installed it yet. It's in its BETA stages, so I'm a little leary about installing it. Anyone else have it?

LOL, yeah, whatever. Anyways, anyone want my XFire name? It's "Bruintone", but actually I think it's just "bruintone" (no capital B). I'm gonna test it out, add some "friends", and see what happens...

LOL, yeah, I got you on my XFire Rog. Haven't had a chance to chat with you. I was playing America's Army most of the afternoon, and already a bunch of players recommend this Chat Utility.

Just for those who might be unaware of this thing's capabilities, follow the link I provided above. I generally points you to any one of your on-line buddies to wherever they might be playing, on whatever server.

For example, hypothetically, I could have DSetthar playing Jedi Academy on one of his servers, have Rod-Nog playing SimCity 4 somewhere, and even have Brian our famous administrator playing one of his online games somewhere else. And I'd be able to find any one of them, and join any one of them in their game on the server they're on, simply with a quick click of the mouse.

Of course it's also a IM utility, but we already knew that...LOL!

[edit]To find out what games are currently supported by this utility, go check it out. You can also go to the forums there as well and give the authors any ideas you can give them. I think it's a good thing...[/edit]

Someone really needs to create a graphically appealing chat program with all the best features. All of the chat programs that I've ever used (which is quite a few) are ugly. Sure, I care more about how well it works, but we should be able to have the best of both worlds.</rant>
