Game called PainKiller... The demo was released a few days ago, and man it is fun! Think of Serious Sam with Havok physics, GREAT graphics, and a stake gun were you can impale zombies and demons to the ground or wall! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif]

BitTorrent and FTP/HTTP links.

I got some screenshots here:

Serious Sam is still better because of the humor used in serious sam... played the painkiller demo at a friend's house and it was good but didn't do anything to make me laugh like serious sam did

I really dont think that painkiller is supposed to be funny, so they're really in different genres. come to think of it, i'm not sure why Sol brought it up either, but i guess he's just comparing the two action-wise.

Action-wise? I highly doubt this packs more action than SS. I can't say for sure, but SS was kinda, you know, BASED around thousands upon thousands of enemies rushing at you. This.. seems like there are only a few enemies at a time, from the screens.

Trust me, it does hurl ALOT of enemies at you, that was just a small town. There are alot of HUGE levels like Serious Sam. Just play it, you'll change your mind. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/cool.gif]

Painkiller is awesome! It looks lame until you play it. The demo has three huge levels that rarely get boring.

Serious Sam was very repetitive. The Painkiller demo isn't! I'd rather have more unique enemies than hordes of the same one. I don't want to see another bomb-fist dude EVER! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/eek.gif]

I didn't think Sam was very funny. Croteam tried to make it like Duke Nukum but failed badly. Besides, humour would feel weird in a scary game like Painkiller.

Exactly what I was going to say. Those last levels in Serious Sam and Serious Sam 2 are.....just so amazing.

I highly doubt with the Havok engine they can throw hundreds of enemies at a time, and still run a constant 60FPS.

Man my comp ran it like a dream, quite awesomely. Couldn't hold as many enemies as the SS engine, but still ran well, and afforded muuuuuuch more detail. It's really an awesome game, and runs very nice even full detail on my comp. Check it out before you criticize trust me.

Ugh. I generally hate games that try to be all serious and dramatic and dark and scarey. They alternate between funny, annoying, and unplayable. With things such as Nocturne falling at the far end of that spectrum, and things like VtM: The Redemption being pretty firmly at the funny end.

Plus i'm very skittish, it's not that i'm easily frightened or whatever, but things jumping unexpectedly out of shadows makes me jump in turn, startlement more than anything. Running through the airducts in Half-life about gave me repeated cardiac arrests and muscle sprains, even with flashlight on and crowbar going constantly to bat them away.

There are some exceptions though. AvP for instance, the aliens and predator admittedly tend to be strongly towards the funny end of the spectrum, but in a diaboliciously entertaining way. The Marines are just unplayable vexing and cardiac-arrest-inducing, i think i still have remnants of a complex from like 5y ago, playing them in the early hours of the morning in a dark room with spooky music on, and then my friend's dog scratching on the bedroom door..

I dont know about that . . . I *loved* Serious Sam. Especially after I got ahold of that huge hand-cannon. Theres nothing quite like gunning down a onrush of 50 bulls with one of those things... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Actually, the game runs extremely well, the only slowdown I ever had was if I shot a grenade at the middle of some explosive barrels and it blew up like 30+ guys
