What happened to Harrison Ford?
2004-02-23, 1:37 PM #1
I just got through watching the "about the making" stuff on the Indiana Jones DVD set, and something really hit me: Harrison Ford is not the same guy he used to be... at all. And I mean besides the aging.
For instance, they had many clips of him on the set of Indiana Jones when they weren't filming, and he seemed like a very nice, pleasant, funny guy.... and then they showed clips of an interview with the present him, and he was TOTALLY different. It's like he wasn't all there, like he was in a daze or something. He didn't seem friendly at all, he didn't even smile, it's almost as if he's been replaced by an evil Harrison-android. How does such a great guy turn into such a ... freak? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]
It really almost made me kindof sad and dissapointed... and more than anything, pretty worrisom about the upcomming Indiana Jones 4 :x
(That is, more worrisom than I was to begin with)

Maybe he was having a bad day because his pet goldfish died?
My school's "groundskeeper" looks EXACTLY like Harrison Ford. It's so cool... and when I say EXACTLY I mean it. That dude is just... wow.

That MIGHT have been it, Axis, except I've seen him before when he was like this... in fact, I think he was on Conan O'Brien not too long ago and he seemed the same way... kindof... off.. X_x

Yeah, he was very untalkative on Conan. It's a wonder how Conan kept him on there so long.

Yeah, but not only was he untalkative, SG1, but if I remember correctly there was actually a point where he seemed angry. . . What's the deal! I want my happy fun Harrison back! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

On those clips of him on the set, he seemed so cool... he was laughing, talking, smiling, they even showed a part where he was sleeping or something in the indiana jones outfit and spielburg snuck up behind him and poured a cup of water in his lap, and he just laughed and started throwing water back...
now he just seems like if somebody did that he'd get pissed and sue them. :\

Meh, I just think Harrison is a Ramblin' man. He doesnt like being in one place too often. Hollywood just isnt really his thing anymore, but his publicists drag him to do the daily show and conan, and he just doesn't want to be there, niether would I!

I feel the exact same way about Harrison Ford. It's not just age, the fire inside him just seems to have really dwindled. He used to be my fav. actor....but I can't really watch his movies any more, he just seems to be going through the motions.

I actually got the sense from that extra DVD that Harrison is very shy around people he doesnt know very well.

I watched him on Inside the Actor's Studio with John Lipton, he seemed normal to me. He was laughing, smiling and generally seemed as if he were glad to be there. I think it's just age; he's gotten old, he doesn't have the same level of energy he used to have. I also saw something about him on the 'E' channel, or rather a quick segment about his son.

His son was modeling for some teen fashion thing, and Harrison was there happy as a clam (based on his smiling of course). And yeah it's kind of like fishstickz said, he's been in the business for a long time and is probably tired of having to remain in the public eye.

All those nerds calling him Han over the years probably made him pissed. I know i wouldnt like it.

But you have to think... would it be better for him to distance himself from the charachter he played, or be like mark hamill who still thinks he's a jedi master? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I'm not saying he needs to be Indiana Jones still. He just needs to be the friendly lighthearted guy he used to be.

My theory.
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

Ever tried calling him a Nerfherder? Or perhaps telling him the odds of getting the exact chemical composition of Miracle Grow, or something?
