[edit]Range. Nothing more, nothing less. I've yet to get a concealed weapons permit, so as of yet it's only for range use. I wouldn't use it for hunting, nor do I consider myself in need of defense. I just like to shoot.

Every time I've ever hunted we've had pistols to suplement the rifles. Reason?
[WARNING: Fuzzy animal lovers / rights activists who think hunting and killing animals is wrong please don't read any further, instead, watch a Retarded Animal Babies video.]
example: Deer hunting. A rifle shot wounds a deer, but doesn't kill it instantly. The deer is tracked, and rather than running back to fire the more powerful rifle at the deer to put it out of pain, a pistol is used. Usually a 38 or a 22. *shrug*
