I met Will Wright on Wednesday
2004-02-28, 9:30 AM #1
My school, The Art Institute of California - San Francisco, is having a series of "Game Industry Legends" talk every quarter at our school. Will Wright was the first one and he came to talk on Wednesday for a little over an hour and then answered some questions afterward.

It was awesome! When I first walked in, I couldn't believe that I was looking at Will Wright, the brainchild of SimCity and the Sims! I got there early enough to get a seat in the front row and the stuff he talked about was basically a smaller version of the presentaion he's gonna give at the GDC in San Jose but it was pretty amazing and insightful. He even showed us some vids on weird glitches the development team was working out in the Sims 2.

Cool! I wish I could have talked to him! I can't figure out why in all my Sim City 4 cities, I can't get the people to want more industrial and commercial areas... all they want is farms and houses. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Hehe, I saw your post Mystic and decided that I might as well post this topic too.

It was open to the public and I imagine that the one next quarter will also be open to the public. We're gonna have some of the people who worked at WETA on the Lord of the Rings come in next Wednesday to talk about some of the stuff they did in the films, too.

Or Warren Spector (My mom met someone on the plane who worked for Ion Storm. She thought almost nothing of it [http://forums.massassi.net/html/mad.gif] )

i don't think i should ever meet someone like Carmack or Spector... i'd be too tempted to do the "we're not worthy" thing then attempt to give them the bigsex

I talked to Ron Gilbert on IRC once! Creator of the SCUMM Engine, Monkey Island, etc.

I asked him what colour his toothbrush is.
