I just got done watching Matrix Revolutions for the first time. What did I just see? Could someone explain it? I have a vague idea, but I need help.

Also, someone on a radio show was talking and he said that if you look closely, you'll see that the Matrix is all an allusion to the Bible and thereafter. Can anyone confirm this? (i can sort of see it)

Welcome to yesterday. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

I didn't quite catch the ending myself. Everyone seems to have their own interpretation of it. Maybe that's what they intended - not to make a movie with a specific set meaning, but to leave it open to imagination and let people draw their own conclusions. *shrug*

What were the Oracle and the head program guy talking about at the ending? Did they have some kind of bet going?

I think it wan't quite a bet, but close. i guess they each had thier own theories and feelings about humanity, and how this would end. The oracle believed in humanity more, i think the point was, and she turned out to be mostly correct, since Neo succeded.

I almost think it was like a game to those two because in Reloaded the head program guy tells Neo that he isn't the first person to try and do what he is doing.

I noticed this aswell. Neo is just like a Christ figure, gave his life for peace. Also there are many Biblical referances in the movie, all three of them. I turly think that the Wachoski(sp?) brothers really thought about this movie.

There are other rumors about the movie, other interpretations, like Smith representing Sin that was spread around that world (hence Smith cloning himself everywhere) and Neo(Christ) died to get rid of all the Smiths(Sin).

But hey, who knows. I really think Neo did represent a Christ-like figure to some extent.

Another thing to relize in the movie is, The Oracle isn't a "good-guy" She simply is a program to collect information about humans and use that to make a better Matrix the next time. One that more will except.

that brings up another point: at the end of the battle between Neo and Smith, why was Smith so freaked out when he remembered how he saw the end of the battle should go?

This is a HUGE FLIPPIN' read. But it could answer most of your questions.

Note: It has spoliers, so make sure you have seen all three movies, it is a interesting explanation of them.

Just made the site real quick.

Because he was freaking out over Neo just giving up. He thought that he was planning something, but went along with killing him anyways because he is crazy.

oh yeah, and Neo does represent Jesus. did you see the crucifix that showed up on neo's chest when the machine killed the smiths? That and all the "jesus christ" references through the films, and "you're my saviour, my own personal jesus christ."

Thank you Burrboy. Cazor, Burrboy has a slightly different explanation about the last battle thing in the website.

I'll present an alternative theory:

The last movie was all just a way for the Wachouskialskakahgna bros to give a big "**** you" to all of the people who praised the Matrix for emulating manga by emulating not only anime, but terrible terrible anime. Hooray, an insult to people who watch real anime.

What "happened"? Neo sacrificed himself to redeem our sins against the AI. Big allusion there. The sad part about it is the, oh, 2 hours before that sequence. As a moviegoer this was like being *****-slapped. They wasted 3 movies setting up some sad pseudo-philosophical BS. An insult to intellectuals!

The last movie, with the Architect saying that he doesn't lie is meant to be a slap in the face for all of the people who invented decent endings.

The fact that there are so painfully few kung fu action sequences - most of the film takes place in the real world, involving robotic exosuits (I wonder where they got that idea) or on a hovership with the soap opera of the future was an insult to Matrix fans.

In short, this movie was just one huge insult from start to finish. Altogether I paid about $50 to see all of the movies at opening (IMAX. Costs more). I ended up with a story that I could have ripped out of the Bible and handed to a DBZ scriptwriter to edit. Total crap.

I was stunned after seeing Revolutions. I tried to process what I just saw and I finally came to the conclusion of, "HOW CAN THEY DO THIS TO US!!!!"

Yes, I was left with a distinct feeling of WTF? Not as much as the second one, but in a way moreso, because it was the last movie.

I think the Wachowski brothers intentially left the last 2 movies wide open to differemt interpretations as deep or as shallow as you wish. Of course most of us just sit there thinking 'what the **** is going on?' while enjoying all the spiffy special effects, but hey the movies work on that level too [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

My pastor took this class on the matrix and had to watch it like 17 times and learned all this stuff about it. He said it really was more of a Eastern Mysticism thing then Christianity.

Actually, the Matrix is based on a cult offshoot of christianity that has more to do with gnosticism than christianity.
