Is there a multi-system IM client (much like GAIM) that allows it to minimize to the system tray? Or is there a GAIM plugin that allows it to do so??

yeah, but it doesn't do what I want it to do. I never want the buddy list to take up any space on the task bar. Ever. Even when it's visible.
