Is there a way to reduce the size of an 160mb ZIP executable to 120mb via compression?

Uh...not sure. I don't think WinZip could do it. Maybe WinAce or one of those fancy things.

?

Does that read that you want to compress a compressed file once more?

Compressing an already compressed file will actually make the file bigger- it will just add the compression info again.

Yeah.

You should unzip the file and recompress it with 7-zip.

7-zip is definitely the way to go.

I personally prefer WinRAR. And it is possible to recompress compressed files. For something like a 160 mb zip file, it will probably gain some compression. You can continue do this more than once, up to a point (A specific maximum limit, generally determined by whatever algorithm is being used, and way it works). Zip files in particular seem to work with recompression... though for a gain of only 1-3% generally. Hmm... RAR's can be compressed further by using ZIP compression, but not another RAR compression. Oh well, I'd experiment with multiple compression programs testing what results you get with recompression, but I doubt you could take it down from 160 to 120...

7-Zip is excellent, although I don't like the 7-Zip interface.
