What is your favourite saber move?

I love using the backstab move in fast style. (move backwards + slash) It's a very lethal move that if done correctly, is an instant kill. It works extremely well against shadowtroopers (their ai makes them circle in from behind somwetimes when they see you, which puts them in the perfect place.) I love gutting reborn and lesser enemies with it too if they are behind me. It even works good against tavion-- I was able to waste the b**** with a single hit, plus i took her arm off for fun with the single move. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]. Unfortunately, it does not work at all well for desann. I can rarely get him in position long enough to stab, and when I do, he can take a few hits. I can easily kill him in strong stance though.

Is it just me, or does strong stance seem ridiculously slow? Even though kyle is using the saber like a sledgehammer, it really isn't any heavier, so why would he have to swing it slower? Granted, its like that to keep strong stance from being too powerful, but it still seems strange after seeing how the saber works in the movies and on the other stances.

also, I don't really see how kyle can get away with using grip and lightning (which are undisputedly darkside powers in any other SW game/movie/book) if he's supposed to be a jedi. They're great moves, but I feel that they should have been kept seperate from the traditional lightside powers, and kyle should have had to choose which powers to use like in Jk simply b/c he's starting to use the force again from scratch. I also hate how they got rid of Force destruction. (Did everyone in the galaxy suddenly forget how to use it or something? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] )

You need to buy MotS. Things are more grey when it comes to the Force powers there. Oh, and Jedi Outcast lets you use Dark side powers as well...

I always thought that Kyle was an Uberjedi . . . you know . . capable of using both sets of skills . . . [http://forums.massassi.net/html/confused.gif]

Well, he's a self taught, mostly. Only had the ghost of Rahn and even then, not very often. So, he's probably bit Uber.

Kyle's definitely what would be considered the "über Jedi".

Anyway, one of my favorite moves (invented/discovered by my brother) involves force grip and saber throw, and we call it "The Blender". Using Grip II, you lift the enemy into the air, then throw your saber at them (must be at least Saber II, though...). I can kill most reborn/cultists (even minor bosses) very quickly doing this.

Some of my other favorite tactics include yanking the enemy forward (following up with a jump/stab downward), and using Grip III to simply throw the enemy into a chasm. Of course, I also find it fun to throw a rocket at an enemy, then play "catch" using force push.

As for destruction, I do slightly miss it. Although it wasn't as useful as lightning in JK/MotS, in newer engines it would be very worthy eye candy (as you see Jerec use it to great effect after level 14 in JK).

Yeah, I discovered the "Blender" too, the first day I started playing JO... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Another fun thing to do with Grip; throw your enemies high in the air. Theyll come crashing down, and usually break their lousy necks on the ground. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif] (you need the highest Grip level for this)

Grip and lightning aren't darkside powers. there's essentially no such thing as "darkside" or "lightside" powers. The Force is an energy, which can be channeled in whatever way the user feels necessary. Think of it like a drug, or alcohol or something like that. The substance itself isn't good or bad, it's the way it's used. You can use it excessively and without care, become addicted, and eventually consumed by it, or you can use it carefully and not as often.. and stuff.

So like... it's not the powers themselves that are dark and light, it's the way you use the powers.

[Edit: Going off my earlier point... think of the "Light side" as people using the force for the benefit of others (such as Doctors using forms of drugs to help people in need), the "Dark side" would be people who use it for their own amusement or personal gain, and use it as often as they desire (such as drug addicts who are so addicted to the stuff they can't live without it) or.. something... yay for losing my train of thought.]

Yeah, what he said. My favorite tactic in JA now is the force grip/push. Uses a lot of force, but very effective.

I also like using grip 3 to throw enemies off of ledges, but i also like picking up enemies (this works really well against enemies like rodians and grans for some reason) and slamming them into walls and such by spinning the FOV really fast. I once did this to some poor rodian, and he hit a wall head first and then bounced up, off the ceiling, and then crashed to the ground.

There's also the fun of using force pull 3 to pull an enemy into a waiting chop with your saber.

In JKA and JK2 theres a fairly cool backflip move involving grip you can do. Grip kick can get boring sometimes.

Grip and hold on for a second - backflip and look up quickly
then let go of grip

They'll fly up into the air and come down behind you (often off an edge [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif])

As was said, there's really no light/darkside-only powers. Luke used "grip" on the gammos in RotJ. Yun used "blinding" in JK. Pic used "persuasion" in JK.

I had forgotten about the first one when I made my post; thanks for bringing it up, it's also one of my favorties. I also like to use Grip III to slam enemies into each other... Especially if it means I knock two or more enemies into a chasm.

You agree with the Sith and Kyle (and me). [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Since Destruction is gone, I've resorted to Lightning and Drain. Whenever someone comes out of Rage, I electrecute them for an easy kill. Too bad Lightning has been spammed by losers.

Not necessarily. There are two reasons.
1 - The biggie - The DF/JK series forum is GONE.
2 - The not-so-biggie - This isn't necessarily pertaining to the games. You could also select moves seen in the movies (Though most are in the games now, anyway [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] ).

My favorite Saber + Force combo when it comes to killing Reborns is the ol' force grip them to stun them followed but a force push or pull to knock them donw and follow that up with a saber slash downwards to finish them off. Only takes no more than 5 seconds to kill a Reborn doing that, regardless of their health. It makes the game too damn easy using that combo. Too bad you can't do that to human players. I would be banned form every game if I could do that combo, ^^.

If the Force is used for harming others, it's the dark side. If it's used for protection, defense, healing, etc., it's the light side. Anything else is probably neutral. Game authors like to pull this "Uber Jedi" and "Gray Jedi" junk so you can use many Force powers at once, but going by the original trilogy and original novels, it's pretty much wrong. When they say "it's how you use it", they mean how the Force is used, as I stated above. Electrifying someone to save someone else's life is still using the dark side. Luke choking the guards is using the dark side. I've always seen it as, if you can tap into the dark side without falling, that's fine. It's just you get sissies like Luke that are afraid to mindtrick someone because they think they might become the Dark Lord of the Sith.

But anyway...I don't really like many of the saber moves, really.

Emon, why are attack powers considered darkside?

Since when is it darkside to attack, anyway? It's part of combat, I myself learned the hard way that you simply cannot have one without the other.
