Taking matters into their own hands

I don't know about this. Maybe a litte harsh, but it sure will stop the crime.

That's fine, they're the ones who are stealing in the first place.
They'll think twice after a few of them are gunned down.

I don't know if I agree completely, but it definitely should reduce crime..

I think its an "ok" short term thing...but if its allowed for too long then it could turn into a way for people to easily get killed.
No doubt people will start using the "he was stealing so I killed him" excuse if the guy wasn't really stealing but they didn't like em.

That's what I was thinking. It might get out of hand. Still, kinda humorous and straightforward way to end the problem though. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Why the hell not? You shouldn't steal in the first place.

This is a very bad idea. You have to remember that this will work bothways; If I was your average thief, I normally wouldn't go as far as killing people, but if I'm discovered and the property owner is trying to shoot me down, I wouldn't hesitate to kill him first. Taking the risk of having your crime discovered - and even then still having a chance to get away with it - definately beats getting killed.

it's not that simple, you don't just kill someone because they did something wrong. like flexor said, a thief will be ready to shoot first because they know if they get caught they 'll probably die. i'd shoot first in that situation too. then you'll have a worse situation with innocent people dying and the economy slowing down even more because the number of farmers slowly drops.

also, for some people it isnt a matter of stupidity, but necessity. poor people who dont have the money to buy food can have starving kids too. haven't you guys ever seen aladdin?!

Reminds me of a situation in England a few years back. Two burglars broke into a secluded farmhouse, the farmer shot at them with a shotgun, killed one of them (a teenager) and wounded the other. He got banged up for manslaughter, I think, in the end, rather than murder.
