Anyway, you say it ran sluggish on your comp. It did on mine, too (athlon 2400+ gf4 ti4200). Until I set the sliders on the gfx screen (the initial one, it has like 4 or 5 sliders) to low. The game still looked great, but ALL performance problems were removed.

It wouldn't even install on my comp.

Painkiller's supposed to be fairly next gen, so I am not suprised it would run slow even on a great rig. Next gen generally implies that it looks amazing, it doesn't say anything about running amazing.

Ran slow as hell on my comp (P3-750, Radeon 7500) but that's to be expected. Game looks awesome though, and was a lot of fun [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] Maybe the comp I'll be buying this summer will run it nicely...

What type of video card are you running? On a 9200SE 128MB DDR, I can get VERY get playable framerates with everything max expect shadows and detail textures at 640x480.

I got a very playable framerate (at least 30-40) and i had 1280x1024 with every setting i could find on high. I have a 1.4Ghz with a GF4 ti4200 128mb.

I played it on my laptop and it ran more or less fine. I did have to kill some processes, and slide the graphics settings down a bit, but it ran smoothly and still looked good.

P4 2.4ghz 512MB DDR SDRAM 1Gig paging file Onboard video graphics card (this is what always causes the biggest problem in a game.)

The only thing that lagged on my friends comp was the boss, when the hammer glowed and all that.

I ran it at 1024x768 but I turned those sliders down. It looked at least as good as the picture posted here. "Playable" is relative. I find anything less than 30 to be crap. Mine didn't slow down at all once I turned those sliders down, and it didn't really affect the look (I could be wrong about that - the res of the textures never stands out to me compared to crappy framerate).

It ran without problems with high settings for me on an XP 1.8, 512 Megs if RAM and my Radeon 9700 Pro.

That makes me intensely happy that you went there Brian. You have no idea. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] At any rate, yeah. I had to drop everything to low.

I tried to find a voting but my new computer doesn't have flash installed (darn), so I guess I can't navigate your site [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] I would vote it bad just for that.

... It's on the main page. There's a poll... Directly on the right side... How did you navigate to the review if you couldn't use the flash bar? you guessed to use ?show=reviews&id=7 ?? hehe.

I got a new computer. I don't want to put flash on it. You should at least provide an alternative for people who don't have flash! Can't you detect it or something?

Don't tell me you found a bug!!??

How come you don't want Flash? It isn't all that bad. I suppose index.php can be modified to detect the presense of Flash or not.

Flash is used maliciously by a number of sites nowadays. It's used to play sounds I don't want to see, take up my screen with huge ads I don't want to see, and generally be a bother. I find it much more pleasant to simply disable it.

ESPECIALLY on sites like oscempire where it's not used for anything! I mean, it's used to draw a menu, and do a small animation when the menu is loading, but other than that, nothing. You could just as easily put a gif there or something (or a series of them). That would serve two good purposes:

1. No more annoying flash for me to look at.
2. Search engines could actually crawl your pages and index them (search engines can't crawl flash pages - so if you DO insist on using flash, the one part of your site that should absolutely NOT be flash is the navigation! [or you could of course provide an alternate method])

How about just having a link to index.php?flash=0 somewhere on your page? Then your index.php could check for the $_REQUEST['flash'] variable and if it's 0 or false, simply write a simple HTML menu?

It was slow on my machine... not choppy or skippy or laggy.... but just like it was in slow motion... looked great though... but the slow motion didn't seem to make the computer any sharper to to my enhanced time for a reaction.
