I am so sick of LEC's bull****. Here's the carrot...now here's the stick, THWACK! Rinse, repeat. Blah.

"After careful evaluation of current market place realities and underlying economic considerations, we've decided that this was not the appropriate time to launch a graphic adventure on the PC."

You can't blame them. It's true. No one buys adventure games these days. I know I wouldn't buy it if it came out..

Then they shouldn't have announced it in the first place and gotten people's hopes up. It's not like the adventure game market is any different -now- than it was a year ago...it's been an underappreciated genre for ages now.

You're right.. It may be true, but they should have realized it before they started developing the game. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

This one was actually shaping up to look promising in my eyes. Oh well... back to shoveling out wonky Star Wars licenses to third-party developers for Lucasarts.

So they cancelled because nobody would buy it, but you said it was bad of them to get peoples' hopes up.

If their hopes were up, then obviously people were going to buy it. Dumbass LEC.

This is ridiculous.. they did everything RIGHT for a change (brought in Steve Purcell, brought in the original voice actors, had great graphics going) and they still mess it up. They even had an amazing and hilarious script/plot, according to the guy who was at the voice recording sessions a few months ago. The thread over at Shacknews has more posts than even the Battlefield:Vietnam "gone gold" announcement, and Shackers are fanatics about BFV.

Just because there are no adventure games out there right now doesn't mean a great one won't sell.. there are a ridiculous amount of gamers who were waiting for this, and I know casual gamers would love to be introduced to Sam and Max. I sincerely hope LucasArts goes out of business..

Edit: Also, why are they canceling the game now? It was set for a Spring 2004 release, which meant sometime in the next 3 months.. they've already invested plenty of time and money, why not try to get back the initial investment?

I'm so happy about this news. Now that Lucasarts isn't busy making crappy games about their old, successful franchises they can focus more on making games based on Gungans.

It's too bad petitions never do jack squat. Baseball bats sounds good, though. I would like to 'share my opinion' about several LEC games i wasted my money on and couldnt return because of that dumb opened CD policy.

This is incorrect. Syberia and The Longest Journey come to mind of recent games.

Another now overlooked genre is turn-based strategy. If you're reading this, you must give Silent Storm a try. Otherwise you die of a horrible forum disease with which this post is infected.
