The Road to Wigan Pier is a long one...
2004-03-06, 3:53 PM #1
I'm currently reading the Road to Wigan Pier by George Orwell (Eric Blair), and I can't for the love of anything determine if it's fiction or non-fiction. If any of you have read the book, hopefully you'll understand what I mean.

Well, for this book report I'm doing it is imperative that I learn what type of book it it. If it's nonfiction, I can't use it, but if it's fiction I'd really like to. I looked on the copyright page and it had no blurb like books usually do as to their genre. I've searched all over Google, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and countless libraries all over the planet, yet it still eludes me! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/mad.gif]

HELP!!!

It's probably fiction, but the author knew some things that relate greatly to the book.

Sorry, maybe I'm just sleep deprived, but I didn't quite follow that last part.

Thanks, but somehow I don't think my English teacher is going to find that very amusing! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Quote:
<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">In the 1930s George Orwell set out to learn about the English working class, spending time living among the poor in mining towns in northern England. The Road to Wigan Pier is an account of his experiences, along with more general ruminations on class and the challenge facing socialism. </font>

Based on that I am going to go with non-fiction.

Thanks Chris (that's the name of one of my best friends). It's not the answer I was hoping for, but I guess better safe than sorry. There are plenty of other books I can read, it's just if you've ever read the book you could appreciate that's it's almost as if he's switched from fiction (Chapter 1) to nonfiction (for several chapters after that).

I guess I'll probably make a report on Robinson Crusoe now (complete and unabridged). I love that book! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]
